Fun with Grandma

Grandma Sillman came for a visit.  She was able to stay for four days and we made sure to pack it full of fun!  By the time she left, we were all exhausted...and wondering how soon she could come back.  Time with Grandma never seems to come often enough!

We shopped, ate out, attended soccer games, baked cupcakes, carved pumpkins, played with toys, watched football games, made crafts and just hung out.  It was wonderful!!  Thanks for visiting, Grandma!

Nursery Rhyme Revised

Miss Chloe loves to sing.  She'll sing in the car, in the stores, walking down the street, in a restaurant, and basically anywhere else she gets the urge.  This is one of the reasons she has been loving school so much.  They have been learning lots of songs.  She sings them for us all of the time.

The other evening we were having dinner together at home. (A very rare occasion, but that's a whole other story.)  About half way through dinner, Chloe breaks out a song for us.  Row, Row, Row your boat.  However, this was not your ordinary version of the song.  Chloe added her special touches and revised it just a bit.  After much applause and laughter from all of us, I'm certain that we will never hear this song the same again.

Chloe's version of Row, Row, Row your boat:

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the street.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is by the tree.

Well done!!

Feathers

It's all about the feathers!  Samantha came home from school a few weeks ago and insisted that she needed a feather.  Her teacher has a feather in her hair and her teacher's mom has a salon in town.  She brought all of her feathers into school to show the girls.  Well, long story short....

The next day, she had a feather in her hair.

And, so did Chloe.

Samantha has a pink one and Chloe chose a yellow one.  They are already discussing what color they will get next time.

Cody's Soccer Game

This year, Cody was moved up into the Major league soccer teams.  The majors are for kids in the 4th - 6th grades.  It's a bit of a change from last year.  Last year, Cody was the big guy.  He played with 1st and 2nd graders.  Not so much this year.  The kids are bigger, faster and a little more intense.  And, he loves it!

His coach is awesome with the kids.  The kids are really working hard together.  I think Cody is learning a lot this year about different plays, positions and strategies.  It's fun to watch the progression of abilities.

Coach is talking with the kids before the game.

About to start the game.

No action shots.  I was busy cheering.

First School Picture

Chloe got her first school picture taken this year.  She was so excited on picture day.  We worked on her hair for a while and she picked out her clothes.  I think they turned out really cute!

We Love to Dress Up

The girls love to dress up!  As far as they are concerned, no day is too mundane that it wouldn't require a dress, some high heels and an up-do.  So when the opportunity allows a day of dress up, they'll take it!

I know I'm completely biased, but I think they're beautiful!  And, I told them so!

They got their outfits from their cousin, Megan's boutique. Le Chic Boutique.  When we were back in Iowa visiting, Grandma Jane bought the girls the clothes and Great Grandma Elsie bought them the hair bands.  Adorable!

Samantha Loves to Sing

Today, Samantha sang in church.  Her and her friend from Sunday school practiced together and were so excited to perform for everyone.  They practiced all week during recess at school.  They did a wonderful job and they are already getting excited about the next time they get to sing.

Samantha is the one on the right with the pink flower in her hair.  I was ill prepared for the view I needed to get the performance recorded, so the podium is in the way. :(  But, it was still wonderful and everyone in church loved it too.
