The first week of college classes are done. In some ways it was easier than I thought. In others, not so much.
The not so fun part is managing my job as a mother/wife(which always comes first) and my new job as a student. I find myself doing homework between loads of laundry, meals, dishes and naps. The majority of my work I save for after the kids are in bed, which works well since I am an avid night owl. I am hoping that as I get more comfortable with my classes I will be able to limit the amount of time I spend on them. Time will tell.
The most surprising part is the type of people taking the classes. There are a few "kids" that are fresh out of high school, but most of us are moms, dads, or grandparents. Everyone comes with a different story. A different journey. It's very inspiring!!
Chad's first week has gone a little different than mine. He was tasked with trying to complete his school work while on his business trip to Germany. That has proven to be a little difficult, so he is still working on finishing his assignments...as we speak. Who doesn't love a little cramming at the last minute?! :-)
Dear Week Two, Please be kind!!

He's Home!
Chad is home. Finally! I say that like his absence was unbearable. It wasn't. We managed. But, life is so much sunnier when he is home...even on the rainy days.
He left on the 20th for a business trip to Osnabruck, Germany. An experience I don't think he'll soon forget. He's told me a little about what he experienced. The 7 hour time difference, the 9 hour flight, the beautiful weather, the interesting city of Amsterdam and the wonderful food.
I'm glad he had this opportunity. I'm glad he had a good time. But, I'm also very glad he is home!
Here are a few pics he took.

Mr. Bubbles turns 11 years old
August 16, 1999. The day my first baby was born. I loved him the moment I saw him. I knew our lives would never be the same. He has been with us through some of the best and worst days. He always knows exactly how to make me feel better. When I'm sick, he won't leave my side. When I'm sad, he knows that a few kisses is just the trick. And, best of all, he shares this same love with the kids.
We love you, Mr. Bubbles!!

First Day of School
School starts today. It's almost hard to believe summer is over, but we are actually ready to get back into the routine. Cody starts 3rd grade this year and moves to the Intermediate building. Samantha is in 2nd grade this year. Both of them are very excited to see their old friends again and make some new friends. They both had a Meet Your Teacher night and it went great. Both of their teachers seem really nice and their classrooms look like lots of fun. I think they're going to have a great year!!
(Chloe wanted a picture too, but decided not to cooperate...)

Samantha's Talent Show
Samantha decided to put on a talent show for us tonight. It's so cute how she comes up with these ideas. She makes tickets for us. She'll set up the chairs. So creative! The talent show themes change each time. We've had a singing show, dancing show, and a dress show. Tonight's theme was magic show. Chad wasn't home for this one, but Cody, Chloe and I were the audience. She starts out by introducing herself and says she'll have three acts. The first was making a penny disappear.
She says, "I am going to make this penny disappear right in front of your eyes."
then she says, "Now, please close your eyes." :)
We LOVED the show!!!

Kids Say the Funniest Things!!
The other day I had a few errands to run. Chad was home so I figured I could just sneak out(yes, I have to sneak if I want any chance to go by myself). It was so darn hot out anyway, it would just be easiest.
No luck! I was caught. Cody saw me grab my purse and he immediately darted out the door toward the vehicle. Whatever. If I made a big deal, it may be mommy plus three....like always.
Moving on...
We're on our way to the store and Cody and I are both complaining about how hot it is. We clearly agree that it must be at least 200 degrees outside...it just has to be. We can both barely breath. On and on this goes. We finally get to the store and we're walking in. Not exchanging much conversation. I think we are both fearing that we may wither before each others eyes.
Just then, Cody looks at me. He says, "Mom, oh no. Just great." I say, "Cody, what? What's wrong?"
Wait for it.....
Wait for it.....
"Oh mom", he says.....
"My armpits are moist"

Just the Boys
Each year for Cody's birthday Chad takes him to the golf course. It's sorta become a tradition and Cody anticipates it every year. This year was no different. The boys were up early and out the door, but not before I grabbed a few pics. :)
Happy 8th Birthday, Cody!!
You're Fired!!
I think this may have been his plan all along.... My husband is fired!!
I leave for an hour to take Cody to karate and when I come home, this is what I find....

On a side note, I must say that she was so proud of her body artwork. And while I'm looking at the brighter side of things, I am very grateful that it was on her and not all over our walls!
