Summer Fun Ideas

 I have been gearing up for the kids' summer break. Researching new and exciting places to visit in our new state. I am very excited with my results. I'll share them with you in case you would like to try them out or visit us in Missouri and we could visit them together. Either way, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Happy Summer Vacation!!

(Most of these are around Kansas City. I will post more as I find them.)

#1.  Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. Overland Park, KS
       Open 9-5 daily. Free admission during the week. Weekends are $2/person.
       A great place with hands on activities such as: pony rides, fishing, dairy cow milking,
      wagon rides, pedal tractors, bottle feeding baby goats, and many playgrounds.

#2.  Cave Spring, Nature Center & Trails. Kansas City, MO
       Tues - Fri 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Adults $2.50 Children $1.50
       Walking trails and Urban Nature Center.

#3.  Kansas City Northern Railroad. Kansas City, MO
       Sat 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sun 12 - 6 p.m.
       $.50/ride
       Restored miniature trains give rides around a half mile track.

#4.  Children's Peace Pavilion. Independence, MO
       Tues - Sat 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
       A hands on children's museum.

#5.  Lakeside Nature Center. Kansas City, MO
       Tues - Sat 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
       Great place to learn about native wildlife.

#6.  Moon Marble Company. Bonner Springs, KS
       Tues - Sat 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
       Learn how marbles are made. See all kinds of different marble designs.

#7.  Kansas City Royals. Kansas City, MO

#8.  Kansas City T-Bones. Kansas City, MO
       Minor league baseball team. Kid friendly and cheaper than a Royals game.

#9.   Wonderscope, Children's Museum. Shawnee, KS
        Mon - Sat 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sun 12 - 5 p.m.
        Ages 3 - 63 is $7/each. 1 & 2 yr olds is $4/each.

#10.  The Berry Patch. Kansas City, MO
         Picking season starts between June 5 - 20th.
         Pick your own blueberries, blackberries, strawberries.

#11.  Weston Red Barn Farm. Weston, MO
         Mon - Sat 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sun 12 - p.m.
         A farm where children can learn about animals and planting crops.

#12.  Cool Crest Family Fun Center. Independence, MO
         Mon - Thurs 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Fri - Sat 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Sun 12 - 9 p.m.
         Go-carts, Batting cages, Mini golf, video arcade

#13.  Dickerson Park Zoo. Springfield, MO
         Open daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

#14.  Lost Valley Fish Hatchery. Warsaw, MO
         Tues - Sat 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
         Learn about the fish of Missouri. Children 15 yrs and younger can fish in a pond on site.
